Winter Warmers

So winter is now upon us in good old blightly. And i hate to admit this but i LOVE it.
It means i can start wearing hats & scarves & jumpers!
As wrong as it may be.. i actually think that i prefer my winter wardrobe, i love nothing more than wearing big comfy cardigans & boots.

The key items in my wardrobe for winter are :

  • Hats - the furrier the better to be honest, and it's even better if they have ears & faces (pictures below will explain), River Island is the place to be for the best headwear (although Primark are starting to sell copy cat animal hats).
  • Statement coat - every wardrobe should have a key statement coat, especially a winter one.
  • Cardigans - Big chunky knit ones, or "grandad" cardigans as i think they should be called. Cable knit ones in classic colours (cream / grey ) are a top buy!  Oh & patterned ones.
  • Boots - UGG all the way for me, love them or hate them, they are the most comfortable footwear in the world (real of course, not fake).
  • Mittens - Actually could not live without these in winter, they are the best things ever - i am of course talking about mittens with string attatched.
TOP TIP FOR WINTER - layer up!
By this top tip i mean you don't have to stop wearing something just because it's not suitable for the colder weather, just layer it up! Have a dress that you love, wear a long sleeved top under it, or a polo neck, which is what i do. Obviously this won't work for EVERY dress. But for most i bet. And also WOOLY TIGHTS!
Make a dress wintery by adding some boots & a leather jacket to toughen it up to give it a "rock chick" look... or at least this is what i do!

Below are some of my key winter wardrobe items :

HATS!

My collection of hats seem to be growing,  of course i own the standard ones such a berets & beanie hats, but the BEST are of course the ones that are furry or have faces..

This has to be my all time favourite hat.  River Island Panda hat, now being replicated in Primark in sort of "racoon" faced hats, but none beat the original.

And even celebs love the highstreet hat, as this particular River Island hat was also worn by a certain Katy perry -(Something nice about seeing a celebrity wearing a highstreet brand, especially if you own the exact same thing).

LOVE this pom pom hat, it looks like a bunny tail so its super cute. Topshop sale last year. Bargain buy. Pom Poms seem to be in again this season judging by River Islands selection.

Yes it's furry.. and leopard print.. and it has a tail.. and ears.. So what?!
River Island of course (seriously the best place for hats in winter).

And yes this is yet another furry leopard print hat.. with ears... this time it has hanging pom poms!
WIN!
River Island obviously!
Have to say a big thankyou to my friend Charlotte who bought me this for my birthday after i blogged about how much i loved it after seeing it on the website.
Roll on winter days so i can wear this!

Not technically a hat.. But this is a faux fur headband, which is seemingly BANG ON TREND right now judging by the shops!
Perfect for those cold winter days.
This was bought from a shop in York called JOY, however there are similar ones available all over the place.. ASOS, River Island... etc.

A floppy hat! Very on trend right now, and this little bargain was from Primark. I always think these are very "Gossip girl".

And to conclude my small show & tell selection of hats i present you with an actual Russian USHANKA.
Seriously... who doesn't NEED one of these in their life?! I bought this from an international market. i have to say, it is honestly the warmest hat EVER.

MY STATEMENT COAT :

Of course it's leopard print.. and furry. Did you really expect anything else?! This is from New Look, and i think it was around £35 last year. I do love it, but i do rarely wear it, this winter i am determined to wear it more often.

Stay tuned for part two of my "Winter Warmers" post.

What are your key winter wardrobe items?!

XOXO
