What Theo Wore Today

Love this little pirate parrot tshirt, it's from H&M. Their baby clothes are really sweet, but find them to be a bit on the small size so always have to buy a few sizes up if I'm buying from there.
The black jogging bottoms were part of a 3 pack from Woolworths Ladybird
online range.

Song Of The Day

B.O.B - So Good :

Absolutely bloody LOVE this song, it's so damn catchy! I saw B.O.B live supporting Paramore the other year ans despite originally having my reservations i ended up getting his album straight away and would love to see him live again.
Can't wait to hear his new album Strange Clouds.

Primark Spree

Striped skater dress £8  / Maxi skirt £10  / Floral pumps £4

I went into Primark on Thursday and came across the above things which i absolutely love (as you'll be able to see from my previous post, i've already worn the skater dress!). The maxi skirt, i just adore the pattern on, but still deciding what would go with it best on top.
Then i was in desperate need of some new comfortable shoes as my beloved River Island pixie boots ripped at the back the other day! Very frustrating that its miserable and cold here in England yet all the shops are full of summer essentials when i want to buy some new boots!
Rain is not flip flop weather! But in the meantime i have these lovely floral pumps!

What i Wore Today

I just got this dress yesterday and i absolutely LOVE it. Stripes are my favourite pattern ever, so whenever i find anything i like with stripes on, i just have to buy it!
Since it was a bit chilly, i teamed the skater dress with a plain black long sleeved top from New Look, black leggings, boots and then added my Primark aviator jacket (which i think has been my absolute best buy from there as it only cost me £10 reduced and i wear it most days!).
The ring i wore, is quite old now, but i discovered it when i was sorting out my jewellery stands the other day, i love big chunky rings like this!
Oh & scarf = vintage!

Toddlers & Tiaras

Sometimes i utterly despair of what the younger generation are aspiring to be and things they say regarding looks / weight - when i say younger generation i am talking about the pre-teens.

I have just read this article : 'Facial beauty is the most important thing in life'
Basically an 8 year old pageant queen has been filmed infront of cameras for the US tv show Toddlers & Tiaras saying:
'If you think your kid is ugly or something, you might not want to do pageants because you're not going to win or anything.'
I just think it is a complete sad state of affairs when an 8 year old girl believe that to go anywhere in life you have to be attractive and do pageants!  Obviously you have to question the parents in all of this too, as of course she won't know any better since she will have been brought up in the pageant lifestyle and around the film crews when doing them.

Although i have to admit i find the whole toddler beauty pageant thing rather bizarre, it's kind of a bit wrong in my opinion to 'doll' all these young girls up (most around 5 years old i believe) in fake tan and make up! It's kind of instilling in them from a young age that they need to wear make up to get somewhere in life - which is exactly what this young girl has proven that it is doing.

Asda Shop!

So this week is the beginning of the Asda baby event - which for mum's like me is marvellous! Basically it means that i can get brilliant offers on all things baby related - usually the best saving is on nappies! So i stocked up on boxes full of Pampers! But more interesting products i also got are pictured above....

1. Bright Starts Teether set - i'm probably being a bit premature by buying teething sets for Theo, but i'm sure they will come in handy soon enough! This set has a cuddly giraffe as well as teething rings.

2. Munchkin teether ring - i thought i'd get things like these in while they are on offer, plus he has started dribbling a lot & getting rosy cheeks so he may well be an early teether!

3.  Munchkin rinser - this is essentially just a soft jug, but it's a good idea as you can press it against the childs forehead to prevent water running down their face.

4 . Karibu soft chair with tray (£20) - i thought this was a very good buy, it's essentially a Bumbo (which FYI is a baby must have it seems, but they retail for around £40). This will be very handy for Theo to sit in his own little chair supported and have a little tray for toys etc too.

5. Little Angels bath wash  - i have to say this Asda's own range of baby bath products are actually really good, Theo seem's to enjoy them anyway! They do a lavender night time bath wash which seems to do the trick!

6. Lamaze - Jingle Jack - like i said the other day, these Lamaze toys are fab as you can clip them onto a play gym or car seat.

7. Bibs - with bottle feeding, i'm finding that you can never have enough bibs! These ones are especially good as they have plastic backing which means that his clothes don't end up with wet patched where the milk has soaked through! These were only £3 for a pack of 5.

Copy Jessie J's Style!

Black floral print shirt - £30 - River Island

OK so i realise it's not exactly the same as Jessie J's shirt, but it's the same kind of style / look!
Personally i LOVE it, but then again i love clashing prints on items!
I also think this could be dressed up or down - myself, i would wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and a blazer.

Song Of The Day

Man Like Me - Squeeze

I have to admit i only heard this the other day on the radio as its Annie Mac's current record of the week but it's ridiculously catchy, i''ve had it stuck in my head since hearing it!
The video is extremely bizarre! I really like this song though!

Lush - shocking window display

Have you seen the pictures of Lush's shocking store window?

The other day in their Regent Street store in London they subjected a 24 year old woman to the brutal animal testing practices that go on in labs.
Jacqueline Traide was subjected to various proceedures such as having her skin smeared in different lotions, she was restrained with her mouth clamped open, injected into her arms in the 10 hour re-enactment showcasing what animals are going through in testing labs.

Demonstrating how animals have cosmetics dropped into the animals eyes
I think this "live" window will definitely make people really think about their beauty products and what the animals have to go through before they reach the shop floor.  It is quite an eye opener actually seeing some of the practices being done.
You would think in this day and age we wouldn't need to test cosmetics on animals, but unfortunately it still happens. Lush is helping a Humane Society International campaign to put an end to cosmetic testing on animals.
Lush being a 100% cruelty free shop - which actually makes me think i should possibly buy more from their instead of other highstreet brands so that i know that my money has not bought anything that has come from animal cruelty in a lab.

Pretty shocking demonstration.

This window is certainly most shocking and thought provoking. I think it has definately opened my eyes, as i always thought that animal testing for cosmetics had been banned in this country now so have been buying all my beauty products completely unaware of the cruelty that may have happened for me to have the latest mascara or concealer. I guess we would just all rather ignore where our products come from since we don't have to see the animals put through the tests, yet when it is shown on display like this, it really makes you consider your choices when buying the latest beauty must have.

Lush Campaign manager Tamsin Omond had said :
'The ironic thing is that if it was a beagle in the window and we were doing all these things to it, we’d have the police and RSPCA here in minutes.
But somewhere in the world, this kind of thing is happening to an animal every few seconds on average.
The difference is, it’s normally hidden. We need to remind people it is still going on.'
Scientists have long used laboratory animals for medical and drug testing and continue to do so.
'But although animal testing for cosmetics was banned in the EU three years ago, it is still legal in Britain to sell products animal-tested in other parts of the world, including the USA and Canada. In China, such testing is a legal requirement.

I have to admit, i was completely unaware of the last point about it still being legal for companies to sell products in this country that are animal tested in other parts of the world.

List of Cruelty Free Shops & Brands  - I thought i would link to this so you can see which shops / brands are completely cruelty free and which brands to avoid if you are wishing to buy cosmetic products which are sourced from no animal testing.

Has this shop window opened your eyes?  Will you think twice when buying your next beauty products?

What I Wore Today

Pretty boring outfit today & same scarf as yesterday!

Striped (slightly) cropped top - LOVE stripes!
Long blue vest / black jeans - all New Look
Scarf - vintage - scarves are definitely the best way to add a bit of colour to an otherwise plain outfit. Plus i like clashing the floral pattern on the scarf with the stripes on this top.

Jewellery- Pandora + Links charm bracelets & Topshop ring.

What Theo Wore Today..

I absolutely LOVE this little outfit! Such a little rocker already!

Hat - Mothercare
T-shirt - H&M
Jersey bottoms - Woolworths Ladybird range online

H&M do some truly adorable little t-shirts and outfits, but the only problem seems to be the sizing, it seems to be on the small side. This Rolling stones top is actually a 6-9 month one! I always think it's best to buy baby clothes on the larger side so they have room to grow a bit into it rather than buy them just right.

xoxo

What i wore today..

Today has been a bit of a mix & match day!

Scarf - vintage ( my favourite scarf ever!)
Blue jeans  / check shirt - New Look
Metallica Tshirt - think this is actually an ex boyfriends that i kept!
Ring - Topshop
Bracelet - Pandora

Love clashing these patterns together! They all have red & orange tones in though so they do seem to go together slightly!

xoxo

Dip Hem It

1.  Lemon drop back skirt - AX Paris £20  2. Striped chiffon drop back skirt - AX Paris £20  3. Dip hem maxi - Wal G** Topshop £29  4. Multi coloured aztec skirt - New Look £24.99

Clothes with dipped hemming are appearing all over the highstreet at the moment, above are my top picks!

Will you be sporting the dip hem trend?!

What I wore today

A rather nautical look today ! Dug out this navy cardigan which is adorned with white prints of ships wheels & anchors ( from River Island) & teamed it with a navy tied tee from Primark.
Along with black jeans.

Lonely Boy Is That You?

Gossip Girls 'Lonely Boy' - or Penn Badgeley, looks *almost* unrecognisable in this shot taken at Coachella this past weekend!

Anyone else addicted to watching Gossip Girl?!

xoxo

Jumperoo

This has to be one of the best baby toys around at the moment (wishing they did adult versions!).  The fisher price rainforest JUMPEROO!
It is a frog shaped bouncing seat which can turn a full 360 degrees complete with a toy bar with jungle sounds and lights! Sensory overload!
I recently purchased one for Theo, and i'm sure he will be bouncing away in no time, but for the minute he's just happy looking at the toy bar :

It seems to get the best reviews out of any similar products on the market,  and appears to be extremely popular on the baby scene! It retails at around £99.99 (from Mothercare), although everyone seems to be in agreeance that it is 100% worth the money.  Plus due to it's popularity, i assume there would be no issues in trying to get someone to buy one second hand, which is a bonus.

London Calling

1. Union Jack Butterfly Shopper - Accessorize £22  2. London Fun Coin Purse - Accessorize £8  3. Team GB large Scarf - Next £10  4. GB Trippers Album - Paperchase £10.75  5. News Print Union Jack Weekender - Accesorize £40  6. London Calling iPhone 4 Case - Cath Kidston £24.95

Have you noticed how the shops are now inundated with all things British?!
Clearly the Jubilee & Olympics are making us all proud to be British!
Above are my top picks of London inspired accessories!

xoxo

What Theo Wore Today

I love these dungarees which are from Next. The colours on these seem to really suit him, and they are really nice soft jersey type material which mean he can move & kick freely in them.
They were about £15 I think and come with a long sleeved grey vest to wear underneath.

Mothercare Haul

So i took a little trip into town this weekend and ended up venturing into Mothercare - pretty much my new favourite shop since having a baby - and came out with the following goodies :

 1. Lamaze Musical Inchworm - this is really cute, it has different textures which are supposed to help develop babies senses aswell as having a jingle bell, squeaker and it plays "If your happy & you know it" when you squeeze the head. It also features a ruler on the under side of the toy so you can track your babies length which is a nice touch. It's meant to help make "tummy time" a bit more fun which is a plus too.

2. Baby Led Weaning book by Gill Rapley & Tracey Murkett. I want to start reading up on weaning since i'm sure time will fly and before i know it my little one will be on solid food. I'm hoping to give this whole BLW approach a go as it seems to have a lot of positive press surrounding it. Although i'll probably give in and buy an Annabel Karmel puree recipe book too!

3. Mother & Baby magazine - i've found myself to enjoy these kind of magazines over ones like Cosmo & Glamour, i think because the articles are more suited to me now and it's interesting to read about new baby products and such these days. Also i like how baby magazines usually come with free catalogues for places like Babies R Us & John Lewis!

4. Lamaze Knot Toy - Its got different textures and features a little mirror too. I like how all Lamaze toys like these have clips to attatch them to car seats / prams / gyms. I've attatched a couple of others that Theo has to his play gym.

Theo enjoying some 'tummy time' on his new toy :

Bargain Buy

Yesterday i got this super cute ballet pump style shoe purse from River Island in the sale for a bargain £2 ! It's got a keyring attatchment loop & a clip so that it could be clipped onto a handbag. Its perfect for just storing those few bits of spare change for catching the bus.
I'm getting fed up with my purse as it's currently over flowing so this will be super handy for just keeping bus money in, plus it looks utterly sweet.

xoxo

Yesterday..

Definitely have a casual vibe going on at the moment - although i do have an 11 week old baby so i can be excused!
I'm addicted to wearing stripes, absolutely LOVE them - especially on tops.

My outfit :
Hat - Topshop (can't really see in the picture very well but it has a really cute fluffy bunny tail style pom pom attatched to it, super cute)
Scarf - Miss Selfridge
Top - H&M maternity wear
Jeans - New Look
Ugg style slippers - Bedroom Athletics

Instagram

I'm completely in love with the app Instagram. I'm interested to see what will change now that they have done a deal with Facebook, wonder how they will integrate the two social media networks.

I like how simple it is to alter a simple iphone snap to look a bit more "arty"!

For example :

Me & Baby Theo

I also like how you can follow celebrities and friends to see their pictures much like you can interact with them on Twitter.  There's also the option to "like" & comment on others snapshots too.
Honestly don't know what i would do without my iPhone and all these wonderful apps!

xoxo

Love..

River Island £15

I am 100% in LOVE with this leopard photo print skirt from River Island. I know it won't be to everyone's taste, but i just love it!
I don't even know what i would wear with it but i feel like i need it!

xoxo

What i wore today

I had a rather casual day today since the weather has been absolutely MISERABLE the past few days! Most of my shoes are not waterproof so i decided to opt for my big UGG boots! Since suprisingly after about 4-5 years they are still completely waterproof and my feet stay nice & toasty & most importantly dry!
I also wore a hoodie from Bench that i have not wore for god knows how long! It was hidden at the back of all my jumpers so hadn't seen it in a while! I just love it because it has swallows on it!

xoxo

Rihanna does it AGAIN...

Rihanna is seemingly just trying to cause more controversy for herself these days & it's starting to wear increasingly thin.
The star posted a photo onto Instagram showing her cutting up a white looking substance on a mans head while she was perched on his shoulders :

The above snap was taken at Coachella festival in the US this week.

I'm starting to really think that Rihanna's management or agents should tell her to stop posting pictures like this. I know she has stated herself before that she is not a parent and she should be able to do what she likes, but when someone who is classed as a role model to hundreds of thousands of young girls worldwide is posting pictures that seem to say its okay to go out and do drugs it really does not send out the right message!

I know a lot of singers / actors probably have taken drugs, but it is one thing doing it privately and a whole new thing in my opinion to broadcast it publicly like this.

I strongly believe that there should be action taken by her management to delete these pictures.

There are also pictures such as this one below with the caption "Legalizeit" :

I think she needs to realise that she has young impressionable girls as fans and this kind of public behaviour is totally wrong. It's one thing doing it in private but when you are a big role model like she is it's completely different.

Rihanna seems to be trying to prove that she's a "bad ass ghetto girl" but honestly i think she is coming across as a bit of a moron, especially when you take into consideration last months Chris Brown collaborations..
It seems like she's heading on a downward spiral...

Even posting scantily clad images of herself constantly to her instagram & twitter accounts seem to show that she is desperately seeking attention, yes she is an attractive young girl but there's no need to show yourself off like that!

I think it would do the world of good to have a Lady Gaga style "media blackout".

Rihanna rant... OVER... for now!!

Top Beauty Bargain Of The Week

Primark £1 for twin pack

These make up remover cleansing wipes are an absolute bargain from good old primark! I always stock up on these, and they also do eye make up remover pads too - they're always situated just by the till point so perfect last minute add on purchase as it saves you having to go to Boots or Superdrug!
Since my local town got a Primark i've just been using these wipes rather than the more expensive versions at Boots as they seem to do just as good a job!

I also find the 50p antibacterial handbag size hand wash that they sell perfect too , especially to put in the change bag for nappy changes when out & about!

xoxo

What I wore today

This is my outfit today, it's been lovely & sunny but still a bit chilly so had to wear a jacket!

I love this navy Barbour style wax look jacket from Primark.
All other items worn from New Look.

Baby grow Love

I'm loving Theo s baby grow today with the crocodile print, it came in a pack of 3 from Mothercare. Love it! So cute!

25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes!

I really love this cute little video illustrating how you can achieve different looks using a scarf, it's amazing to see just how many ways you can actually tie a scarf!

Bag of the Week

Okay so it's not really a 'bag of the week' since it's a bag that i've been using every week for around 2 months now! However i think it deserves a mention since i LOVE it..

My Cath Kidston floral change bag - the perk of being a mummy is that you get to purchase delightful bags like these!

Cath Kidston £65
I was originally worried that it would be deemed too 'girly' since i bought it during my pregnancy when i knew that i was expecting a boy, however as lots of people have pointed out to me that it is infact a bag for me despite the fact that it is filled with baby essentials for him.
I have to admit i didn't even look at other change bags as i instantly had my heart completely set on buying a Cath Kidston bag as a treat! I'm so glad i did, i really love it!
Plus it goes so perfectly with my pram which is lime green!

Mothercare My3 pram

This change bag comes complete with bottle holder as seen in the pic, aswell as a matching floral PVC change mat which is quite padded compared to others i've seen. It also has lots of pockets / compartments which is brilliant for keeping all his bibs / muslins / nappies seperate.

I manage to squeeze everything i need for outings in this bag and it hangs nicely over the pram handles. Despite it being quite pricey at £65, it's definitely been worth while so far, and you need a change bag - no matter what my mother says about it being acceptable to use a plastic carrier bag, as if!

I've never really been able to justify buying myself a Cath Kidston handbag, so this has satisfied that need!

xoxo

Jessie J!

Recognise the fresh faced 15 year old above? That's Jessie J!! Pretty much completely unrecognisable from the rising 24 year old popstar now!

I have to say i loved Jessie J from pretty much the moment i heard "Do it Like a Dude" but i love her even more now that she's a coach on the Voice, she comes across as very down to earth.
I am also totally envious of her wardrobe & hair - although i'm starting to wonder if the dip dyed purple locks she's been sporting on the voice is a wig as i really fail to understand how anyone can have hair THAT shiny!!

I love the fact that she seems to not care about what people think of her & just wears what she likes! Its nice to have a singer (along with Gaga) who doesn't conform to the normal popstar "image". Plus she can actually sing and writes her own songs!

I've just actually been reading Jessie J's Wikipedia page (the fountain of all web knowledge!) - i've learnt she wrote 'Party In The U.S.A' for Miley Cyrus - everydays a school day!

Also been reading this article : Jessie J being monitored amidst health fears
Basically she is being monitored due to suffering from a stroke when she was only 18 years old - it's great to see how well she seems to have recovered to become a popstar! I never even knew she had, had a stroke until i read this.

I LOVE how she manages to look good in a catsuit too, not many people could pull off a tight catsuit like she can.

I actually think if i could own anyones wardrobe, it would be hers!

After reading this article - Daily Mail Article i actually really admire her for this comment :
"The singer, who is known for her quirky and often raunchy fashion sense, reportedly refused the help of a stylist on the show, telling producers: ‘I don’t need any help getting dressed.’ In a recent interview she said: ‘If someone did my make-up and my hair, and dressed me and wrote my songs I’m just being a dummy. If someone dressed me, I wouldn’t feel like me.’

I'm absolutely gutted that i didn't get tickets to go see her at Leeds Academy last year!

xoxo

Draw Something

My newest addiction - Draw Something!

I love this App! It seems to have really taken off recently!
Its a very simple idea, but yet totally and utterly addictive.
Basically you have to draw a picture (ranging from cupcakes to Beyonce) and then your opponent has to guess what it is using the jumbled letters beneath it, so the better the drawing the more likely they will be able to guess.

What makes it good is that you can play against your facebook friends, although i have to say this has resulted in numerous texts telling me my drawing skills are rubbish.. however  the more i play the better i think my drawings are getting !

This is my best drawing so far :

The Voice

I am absolutely loving The Voice Uk on a Saturday night! I think the format and concept is so much better than previous singing talent shows such as X Factor. I think mainly because it has none of the weeks and weeks of going through humiliating performances from people who are completely tone deaf, at least all of these contestants have at least an OK singing voice to begin with.
Plus i think the judging panel work really well together and i think they really make the show what it is.

The concept of the Voice is pretty simple really, basically all 4 coaches - Jessie J, Will.I.Am, Tom Jones & Danny O'Donoghue  - during "blind auditions" are sat facing away from the stage in giant swivel chairs and then singers come onto the stage and perform then during the performance each of the  coaches has the chance to hit their red button to swing round and see the performer to get the chance to bag them for their team.
If more than one coach turns round then it is upto the singer to decide whose team they want to be on - which i think is a really good idea.
Each coach has 10 places in their team to be filled by the performers.

The coaches!

I think last nights episode was the last of the blind auditions so it will be interesting to see how the battle rounds compare to the X Factor.

I have to say the only minor thing that has bugged me so far has been the fact that all the coaches have been wearing the same outfit each week, i presume because they were all filmed in the same day but still!

have you been watching the voice?!

She's Done It Again...

While i do love Katy Perry, i just can't say that i am loving her style choices recently! Plus as much as i like this darker hair do, i actually kind of miss the blue bob she's been sporting over the past few months.
Katy was snapped wearing this floaty see-through dress at Coachella - which i would have liked more had it not been completely see through i think.

Song Of The Day

Justin Bieber - Boyfriend

Honestly, i'm not entirely sure that i should even be admitting to liking this song, however i am going to take that risk & expose myself as a bit of a belieber! I do like this song quite a bit after hearing it on the radio for the past few days it's really grown on me!

xoxo

Bridesmaid

So this is the bridesmaids dress that has finally been ordered for my friend wedding in August, it's from Kaliko & it was in the sale which is always good!
It's a lovely colour, but i'm just hoping it will fit as they have now sold out of this dress!
It was despatched today and will apparently be with me within 5 working days, so fingers crossed!
I'll post a picture once it's arrived.

xoxo

Top web buys

This week from River Island & Topshop websites i am in LOVE with :

 1. Black stripe ponte jacket £45.00  2. Sleeping skeleton ring Topshop £7.50 / 3. White floral maxi skirt River Island £35.00 / 4. Pink watermelon zip purse River Island £8.00

What's in Your Handbag?!

Well this is a bizarre exhibition.. Handbag art exhibition
I wish an artist would come up to me and offer me £400 to reveal whats in my handbag!  I doubt anyone would be interested enough in old receipts though!

My handbag always seems to weigh a ton yet it never has anything even remotely interesting in it!
Mind it would seem that none of the contents of the handbags in the exhibition have anything interesting in them either!
How exactly is revealing whats in random womens handbags art? Although having said that how are a lot of things classed as art! - Damien Hirst & Tracey Emin spring to mind...

I think all this proves is that women weigh their handbags down with lots of junk!

Tuesday 10 April 2012

this week..

I am totally addicted / in love with the new Batiste Cherry dry shampoo spray

The smell is just oh so fruity! It smells utterly delish!  It's currently on 3 for 2 with all other hair care products in Boots stores, so i stocked up the other day!!
I am completely reliant on dry shampoo, i really honestly don't know what i did before the days of Batiste! Okay, maybe this makes me sounds extremely lazy when it comes to actually washing my hair with water & the whole shebang but it takes FOREVER to dry.
But luckily my hair doesn't go very greasy so i can get away with washing it every 2-3 days and this is perfect for using inbetween actual washing!
I also love the tropical one!
It's one of those revolutionary products i don't think i could live without, much like mascara!
Although having said that, you can actually just use talcum powder to banish greasy roots, but of course that doesn't smell as lush! And last time i tried this i just looked like i had gone grey prematurely!

xoxo

Oooh, Controversial!

I have just read a quite bizarre article from the Daily Mail website: Alicia Silverstones controversial feeding method
I wasn't even aware that she had made a video showing the way in which she feeds her son who by the way is called the ridiculous name of Bear Blu... but anyways now i am, and i have to say i find it utterly bizarre. Basically actress Alicia Silverstone (who was Cher in Clueless FYI) chews food for her son who is 11 month old and then passes it to him to eat himself using her mouth - pretty similar to how mother birds seem to regurgitate food for their chicks.
How truly strange? I don't really think i will try this particular weaning method with my baby boy Theo!

I don't even know why you would feel the need to pass food onto your baby like this when their are blenders and jars of pureed baby food available?
I'm not sure it even has any benefits?! In what way would her son be benefiting from pre-chewed food!
I know i certainly wouldn't want to eat food that had first been chewed by someone else!

Bizarre!

Katy goes green...

Oh Katy - what on earth were you thinking wearing this green get up?! Don't even get me started on the hair... i miss the blue cropped look.

This is what Katy Perry decided to wear to the Kids Choice Awards recently.
