SNOOOD

SNOOD'S are clearly the way forward for this wintery weather!
I LOVE this one, which is from River Island, don't think it's quite cold enough to put it on just yet though.. It has lovely fleece lining on the inside so it's super warm.
Primark has some nice knitted ones in at the moment actually.
Perfect for those cold dark days!

All is not as it seems..

Can you tell what is wrong with the below picture of this stunning Model?

Did you guess.... this is infact a MALE model.
Androgynous model Andrej Pejic stepped out into the streets of London donning a school girl-esque outfit & i have to admit , i doubt anyone would even notice this was infact a man from the look of him here...

Supermodel Kate Moss has even remarked how beautiful she thinks he is.
FHM magazine also described the model as a 'thing' when he was voted into 98th place on the lad mag's list of the world's sexiest women.

I have to say he does make a pretty stunning model, even if he is deemed controversial.

The Good, The Bad & The UGGly

LOVE them or HATE them, i think we all have to admit UGG boot's appear to be here to stay. Every winter for the past few years the streets are filled with people wearing them.
I have to admit i personally am a massive fan.. but only really of the REAL ones. Some of the fake ones out there should be BANNED for looking horrific.

I own 2 pairs of real UGG boot's and i pretty much wear them non stop in the winter. Mine are the one's with the "winter sole", so they're very hardwearing.

TOP TIP - when buying UGG boots always go for the slightly small size as with them being sheepskin they will give, i've found this with mine.

This pair i have had for maybe 4/5 years & i love them, they are so warm & comfy.

And this is my second pair that i have had for maybe 2 or 3 years this winter.. I have to say this colour has worked out much better as they don't look so mucky as my lighter ones!

Can you see what i mean about the "winter sole" ? Definitely would buy another pair!

UGG boots are definitely here to stay in my opinion!

Chanel Pearl Warts.

You may be asking yourself "what on earth is a pearl wart?", well my dears let me tell you...

On the Spring 2012 runways, Chanel appear to be trying to start a new trend.. pearls stuck to the face...
Is this a DO or DON'T? My gut instinct would be to say that this trend is not going to catch on to the high street, however after they tried to bring back the fashion for temporary tattoo's stores such as Topshop did actually sell them, so who knows?

Models Feet...

(This blog post i would like to dedicate to my mum who LOVES feet. Ha Ha.)

So this is what happens to your feet when you strut your stuff down the catwalks at fashion week every day...

The above picture is of the foot of a model at the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion week.
OUCH.

Winter Warmers

So winter is now upon us in good old blightly. And i hate to admit this but i LOVE it.
It means i can start wearing hats & scarves & jumpers!
As wrong as it may be.. i actually think that i prefer my winter wardrobe, i love nothing more than wearing big comfy cardigans & boots.

The key items in my wardrobe for winter are :

  • Hats - the furrier the better to be honest, and it's even better if they have ears & faces (pictures below will explain), River Island is the place to be for the best headwear (although Primark are starting to sell copy cat animal hats).
  • Statement coat - every wardrobe should have a key statement coat, especially a winter one.
  • Cardigans - Big chunky knit ones, or "grandad" cardigans as i think they should be called. Cable knit ones in classic colours (cream / grey ) are a top buy!  Oh & patterned ones.
  • Boots - UGG all the way for me, love them or hate them, they are the most comfortable footwear in the world (real of course, not fake).
  • Mittens - Actually could not live without these in winter, they are the best things ever - i am of course talking about mittens with string attatched.
TOP TIP FOR WINTER - layer up!
By this top tip i mean you don't have to stop wearing something just because it's not suitable for the colder weather, just layer it up! Have a dress that you love, wear a long sleeved top under it, or a polo neck, which is what i do. Obviously this won't work for EVERY dress. But for most i bet. And also WOOLY TIGHTS!
Make a dress wintery by adding some boots & a leather jacket to toughen it up to give it a "rock chick" look... or at least this is what i do!

Below are some of my key winter wardrobe items :

HATS!

My collection of hats seem to be growing,  of course i own the standard ones such a berets & beanie hats, but the BEST are of course the ones that are furry or have faces..

This has to be my all time favourite hat.  River Island Panda hat, now being replicated in Primark in sort of "racoon" faced hats, but none beat the original.

And even celebs love the highstreet hat, as this particular River Island hat was also worn by a certain Katy perry -(Something nice about seeing a celebrity wearing a highstreet brand, especially if you own the exact same thing).

LOVE this pom pom hat, it looks like a bunny tail so its super cute. Topshop sale last year. Bargain buy. Pom Poms seem to be in again this season judging by River Islands selection.

Yes it's furry.. and leopard print.. and it has a tail.. and ears.. So what?!
River Island of course (seriously the best place for hats in winter).

And yes this is yet another furry leopard print hat.. with ears... this time it has hanging pom poms!
WIN!
River Island obviously!
Have to say a big thankyou to my friend Charlotte who bought me this for my birthday after i blogged about how much i loved it after seeing it on the website.
Roll on winter days so i can wear this!

Not technically a hat.. But this is a faux fur headband, which is seemingly BANG ON TREND right now judging by the shops!
Perfect for those cold winter days.
This was bought from a shop in York called JOY, however there are similar ones available all over the place.. ASOS, River Island... etc.

A floppy hat! Very on trend right now, and this little bargain was from Primark. I always think these are very "Gossip girl".

And to conclude my small show & tell selection of hats i present you with an actual Russian USHANKA.
Seriously... who doesn't NEED one of these in their life?! I bought this from an international market. i have to say, it is honestly the warmest hat EVER.

MY STATEMENT COAT :

Of course it's leopard print.. and furry. Did you really expect anything else?! This is from New Look, and i think it was around £35 last year. I do love it, but i do rarely wear it, this winter i am determined to wear it more often.

Stay tuned for part two of my "Winter Warmers" post.

What are your key winter wardrobe items?!

XOXO

LOUD.

 I forgot to add..

I do love the Rihanna tour merchandise, especially this T-Shirt.. obviously otherwise i wouldn't have bought it.
But anyways i think i have made this point before but tour  T-Shirts are such brilliant buys. For a few reasons - you can wear something that your quite unlikely to see anyone else wearing & also i always think it makes you seem pretty darn cool if your wearing a T-Shirt you bought at a concert - this kind of only applies to the ones like mine with the tour dates listed on the back..
Also maybe one day they'll become vintage chic! (You never know) .

Note - Tour Tshirts are not cool if they are for bands such as Westlife or people such as Justin Bieber - just NO NO NO. They will never be "vintage chic".. EVER.

This particular one will be great teamed with a blazer & black jeans. I just LOVE the massive red lips on the front. Very eye catching.

On a fashion related note about the concert   - i have never felt so underdressed in my LIFE. i could not believe the amount of teenage girls parading around in what i can only describe as "belts" and skyscraper heels, not the mention the amount of fake tan disasters!
It was as if the cast of The Only Way Is Essex had descended on Manchester..

I actually unfortunately did not manage to take a picture of any of the fashion DISASTERS i witnessed that night..

I did however see the trend for patterned leggings seems to have kicked in, i approve of this.

Completely forgot to take a picture of my outfit for the evening but it basically consisted of an old creased Metallica T-Shirt (seriously band shirts are COOL) & some black jeans & boots, oh and of course my trusty denim aviator jacket.
I did not opt for the belt/skirt look.

XOXO

Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad.

RIHANNA LOUD TOUR REVIEW :

Rihanna, the Bajan pop princess took to the stage at the M.E.N arena on Sunday night in front of a cheering crowd. The singer is definitely back with a BANG.
Now i have to admit, i left the concert feeling slightly underwhelmed, for the fact that quite a lot of the show seemed to be a repeat of The Last Girl On Earth tour that i saw last May. The stage set up was very similar, the pink army tank prop was back yet again. I would have thought paying upwards of £30 you would deserve to see a whole new show, but apparently not.

Let me just mention that Calvin Harris was a superb opening act, i would never have thought a DJ would suffice as a crowd pleasing opening act at a pop concert, however he proved me wrong. I actually think it may well be the best type of opening act to have, since he had the crowd well & truly warmed up for the main act by playing the top club hits of the past 6 months including Example "Changed the Way You Kiss Me" and of course his own hits such as "Bounce".

Moving on...
So Rihanna burst onto the stage in a giant perspex orb to the smash hit "Only Girl in The World",  wearing nothing but a bedazzled bikini.

The show was certainly filled with hits, even featuring older songs such as " Shut Up & Drive  ", " Pon De Replay", " Run This Town".  So fans weren't left disappointed by her song choices.
However to me the whole show seemed too recycled to really make it seem worth my £££.
But she did sing live & she certainly put on a show, you can really tell that she loves being on stage & their was a lot of love in the arena for the singer.
I'm also quite impressed by the amount of people who took umbrella's to hold up during the smash  hit song - which was of course the last song of the evening, which had everyone singing along to every word.

So.. now onto my other major issue i had with this performance. Before i start on this, let me just point out that i am a fan of Rihanna, i own her albums, enjoy her music etc etc..

This tour was so overtly raunchy & sexy it felt like it was too much.
Let me elaborate - there were backing dancers who doubled as pole dancers, one of whom gave Rihanna a lapdance, the star seemed to just thrust her way through her songs while groping herself. On top of this she then pulled a member of the audience onto the stage, then proceeded to straddle this girl and grind on her while taking her hands and getting the participant to grope her... Now call me old fashioned but is this not taking things a bit TOO far?!

During her rendition of S&M the star was chained to the stage while hands came up from the floor to grab at her while she was writhing about on the floor.

It seems to me to be totally inappropriate for a star in her position to portray herself in this manner... but as the star herself once said on twitter in answer to her critics shes "a rockstar not a parent".  But does this attitude make it right?

There was a whole host of young girls some as young as 7 at the concert that night, and i can't help but wonder what their mothers were thinking when they witnessed "S&M" live..
I can't help but feel that this show should be toned down to make it more appropriate for her younger fans. But at the same time i also think that they shouldn't have released song's with lyrics such as -

"Cause I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it Sticks and stones may break my bones But chains and whips excite me"
"Come here, rude boy, boy; can you get it up? Come here rude boy, boy; is you big enough?"
Whatever happened to the days where song lyrics were so innocent like " there ain't no party like an S Club party" ?!

We should be giving young girls actual role models to look up to , not making them aspire to prance around in their underwear like these pop stars these days.
I know Lady Gaga isn't a  perfect role model but at least "Born This Way" is a song about appreciating who you are & the way you were born no matter what.

Yes sex sells, but should we be encouraging pop stars such as Rihanna to behave in this way?

In a complete contrast when i went to see Katy Perry's California Dreams tour i was pleasantly surprised at how much i loved it, i don't know what i expected but she certainly exceeded my expectations & i have to say she put on a show that was filled with fun & beautiful costumes that consisted of more than just underwear! I actually left her show wanting all of her stage outfits, as they were spectacular creations.

So Katy may sing about kissing girls & liking it, but i have to say her show was appropriate for any age of fan. There was no lapdancing in sight that night or handcuffs. Just cupcakes, candy floss & a giant dancing purple cat. And this is how i think it should be, and i think this goes to show that it doesn't have to always be about sex & trying to add shock value.

Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour took it to a whole new level, she even took to the stage donning what can only be described as a giant hairy lampshade...Maybe Rihanna should try this approach instead?!

 SO..
Would i go see Rihanna again? Probably not. But thats mainly due to being disappointed in the amount of recycled set props etc.

Jordans Back.

That's right the freshly single Katie Price seems to have morphed back into her glamour girl alter ego Jordan judging by these new publicity shots. Anything for attention, eh?

Deary me, she seems to have forgotten to put some trousers on.. or even a skirt.
And it would seem she needs a larger size top to fit her.. "assets " .

This was all to promote her new TV show "Signed By Katie Price" of course, where she will be searching for a "mini me" of herself it would seem.

Can't really see this "look" catching on...

Faking a bump?

Beyonce has hit the headlines this week after pictures emerged from a recent interview that appear to show the star wearing a prosthetic baby bump... Well they basically show her stomach looking very odd which has led people to make this assumption & i have to say it certainly is an odd picture.. HOWEVER why & how on earth would a superstar like Beyonce be able to fake a pregnancy!?
Below is a picture of Bey looking beautiful when she announced the pregnancy on the VMA red carpet -

And next up the still picture from the interview which has led to the rumours -

The second picture seems to show her bump slightly kind of collapsing.. which just does not happen to a bump when you sit down! (And i should know now that i am sporting one of my own).

But to be fair to her maybe she is just wearing one to make her bump bigger?!
It seems too crazy to be fake, but stranger things have happened.

ASOS SALE ALERT

That's right... ASOS has just started a mid season sale... Why did i have to find this out?!
Because - A) I don't think with my bump right now i can fit into any of the sale items..
B) I can't afford to do anything but screen shop. (like window shopping.. only computer based).

Regardless of the above two things , it of course has not stopped be browsing the reduced items. And there are some right BARGAINS.

This is gorgeous.. AND it's maternity! Bargain for £17.50.  (Must resist the temptation..)

I also LOVE these star print trousers for £12 in the sale.. although i already know things like these i end up buying then just wear in the house, as i wouldn't want to walk down the street with star print trousers on.. so they're a no.

Gaga does London

I'm LOVING Gaga's new mint hair do.
These are two looks that she's been sporting while in London this week . She's very toned down these days compared to the "meat dress" era!

XOXO

Keeping it real.

Rihanna has just risen in my estimation. a HUGE world wide super star like herself took to the London tube to ride on it with fans en route to the first of her 10 sold out concerts at the 02 in London. HOW NICE?! well okay, it screams PR stunt. But still. Don't think you'd catch Madonna on the London underground in a million years.
Rihanna spent time having pictures taken with fans & chatting to them! Sweet!

Check out the picture below of the princess of pop with an adoring fan...

I do like it when stars do things like this. Makes them seem like they actually care about their fans.

ALSO speaking of this certain pop star.. i'm going to see her LOUD tour on Sunday at the Manchester Evening News Arena.
I saw her last year for her Last Girl on Earth tour, i have a feeling this one is going to be SO much better though. Not sure anyone can beat Gaga though in the live stakes though.

I'll do a review of the show next week! And of course there will be pictures..

Blog Love

One of my friends has started a blog, so you should all check that out too ::

Shiny Glossy People

XOXO

I've been mostly wearing...

STRIPES.
(I apologise for my lack of posting in the last month... but i am back with a vengeance..  well inspiration anyways.. ! )

This is a collection of pictures of outfits i have been sporting last week.
(i have a chest infection this week therefore my outfits have lacked any co-ordination or such like, and mainly consisted of PJs).

So it was ridiculous hot over the past weekend.. October & we had a British heatwave. Mental.
However this meant i got to crack out the aviators & this maxi dress from Primark (I really don't shop anywhere else these days ! ).
Perfect hot weather attire.

This outfit i wore to work, this dress is perfect for just throwing on & looking a little bit more "dressed" up than just wearing a top & black jeans.
I got this in the sale from New Look about 2 years ago, and didn't wear it for ages, as i didn't really like it, but then in the past year i decided i LOVE it. Which is usually what i tend to do...
Scarf - vintage.
Coat - New look from oh about 4 years ago... My mother likes to call this my "chemical warfare" coat. Thanks mum! I do love it, this is a really bad picture of it, it's like a metallic dark green & its waterproof too so that's handy... well mostly. Its perfect for those inbetween weather days, when it's not hot or cold!

This denim aviator has DEFINITELY had its wear already & i've only had it for 2 months max, but for £18 from Primark (again.. i know!) it really is a BARGAIN.
And fairly warm actually, since it has the sheepskin lining all the way through and not just round the edges.
I love stripes right now.

Handbag of the week - just a plain grey satchel type bag from... can you guess... Primark! This is in my bad books however.. this is about the fourth one i've had from there as the clasp lock thing keeps falling off, and this one lasted surprisingly well however the other day it broke yet again...
Hoping i can fix it with some new screws as i actually quite like the bag, it's just the right size too.

BUMP WATCH! -

it would seem over the recent weeks my bump has made an appearance!

I LOVE this stripey vest top dress. however i don't think i would wear it as that, i prefer to layer it up as seen above during the colder months.
So i layered it up with a basic long sleeved blue top, black jeans & a belt.. oh and my lovely Primark aviator. (See , i definitely do get my wear out of this jacket! ) .

XOXO
